Welcome Chase!
I have never been a JW; wife is a fader. However, thanks to this board, I bet I know more about JWs and belief system than 95% of JWs. Go figure .
Enjoy the ride.

in the watchtower of may 15, 2011, youths are advised like this:.
"keep your eyes on the things unseen".. (page 10).. why?
"because the things unseen are everlasting".. and.
White Dove, I think you just said you foresee the retention rate going up (if atrition is declining).
I certainly hope not!

Isn't: "keep you r eyes on things unseen" an oxymoron to begin with?
Keep your hands on the steering wheel you can't touch, listen for the sound you'd never hear...yeah, makes lots of sense...
Morons...
i don't really care to download it and review it and see how it's the same old same old - but i do like to read up on others doing it here.
:) i'm a lazy leach like that.. so - get to it guys.. www.jw.org.
edit: haha- i said 2001 in the title - meant 2011.
One more comment on the stupid ring picture:
The size of that rock is not random. From what I see, this is a solid 2 1/2 to 3 carat princess, which is no less than 10 Grand..
And the faithful sister turns it down! And she goes on to marry a broke abusive janitor....
No wonder these stupid pictures can appeal to prescoolers, at best...
-Yan
the new study watchtower page 9 explains how sisters should be happy to be servants to their elder husbands.. "co-operate in financial matters".
"joyful to see her husband active in the congregation".
if he makes a decision you disagree with "she displays a quiet and mild spirit and cooperates with him to make his decision work".
AnnOMaly,
LOL, how this 3rd bullet point can easily be taken out of context nowadays...
perhaps this is the wrong place to post such a question, but, is anyone aware of any criticism of the new world translation as rendered into other languages, say, spanish, portuguese, french?.
if you open a non-english version of the nwt, you find that they very clearly say you're holding a translation from english into whatever the target language is, only "checking against the hebrew and greek originals".
this is to say, there is a pecking order that begins with the translation from the original languages into english, and then another, from english into all others.
Further to Leo's post, I can attest the missing brackets in the Bulgarian translation...
i'm gonna debut my rap song on here for you guys to 'bob' your heads.
now, i know what your thinking...i dont like rap music joliette.
i dont listen to that kinda music.
How gangsta are you goin?
i'm sure texas isn't much different from any other state.. we want clean air.
so, the auto manufacturers came up with a glorified box of charcoal that "filters" out the pollutants (simultaneously making the energy output less efficient requiring yet more fuel) called a catalytic converter.. most cars' converter lasts about 10 years.. .
i'm driving a honda accord from 1998. the coverter has given up the ghost and i don't pass the nox tests.. so.... i can't renew my registration and have to spend about $1700 to replace that stupid box of charcoal.. .
I'd go with undercover's suggestion. You should be able to find a relatively new converter from a busted couple-year old accord. It is also a part, that I believe would be less likely to have compatibility issues - it's a damn box full of charcoal.
Good luck!
